Police in Louisiana have officially closed their inquiries into the death of former dance teacher Scott Rogers.

Mr Rogers, 52, was killed by his son-in-law and former pupil Mathew Hodgkinson in what appears to have been a murder/suicide pact. This was during a federal investigation of Mr Rogers, a well-known TV host in his local town of Baton Rouge.

The investigation was into irregularities in paperwork relating to fostering children.

Following the shooting at Mr Rogers’ home police began an investigation after claims that Mr Rogers had abused two men as children.

This week Major Ronnie Herbert, at Iberville sheriff’s office, said the case had been closed and no further victims alleging abuse had come forward. Suffolk Police, who also began investigating abuse claims, say there is no active investigation ongoing.

Mr Rogers, who founded the former Academy of Dancing and Performing Arts in Bury, was cleared after a trial of a serious sexual offence against a child in 1993. In 1995 the academy was likened to a ‘religious cult’ by Suffolk County Council. Parents claimed that Mr Rogers was brain washing pupils. One, later revealed as Mathew Hodgkinson, was taken away from his parents by constant pressure.
