Lavenham hotel guest reports group of diners over coronavirus rule of six breach
Police attended a hotel in Lavenham after a guest concerned about a breach of the coronavirus rule of six reported a group eating in the dining room.
Officers were called to the Swan at Lavenham Hotel and Spa on Tuesday, September 22 to a report that eight people were sitting around the same table having dinner in its galleried restaurant.
A police spokesman said:"We were called to reports of a group of eight people dining together at The Swan at Lavenham.
"We were called at around 9.35pm and officers attended as the group was about to leave the restaurant.
"The restaurant management was given words of advice by the officers in attendance."
Hotel manager James Sanders said:"We had a family of eight from Essex booked in for a celebration, in a bubble, and they were eating together in the restaurant.
"We asked them when they made the booking and they confirmed they were all related.
"They booked four double rooms for the night but at breakfast the next day we did ask them to sit at two separate tables of four.
"We want to abide by the law but we don't want to upset larger families either."
