SuffolkNews Podcast: Man arrested in Sudbury and released without charge




Up first, a man was arrested in yesterday afternoon after an incident took place.

Police were called to Blackfriars, off Friars Street, in Sudbury alongside a firearms team.

A spokesperson for the police said that a man had been arrested, but no firearms were found on the scene.

Next, a huge fire was reported at 5.40 yesterday evening.

Rushmere Golf Course in Ipswich saw six fire crews tackle the blaze, leaving shortly before 9pm.

A video captured by firefighters at the scene shows the fire spread to 100m x 150m.

Station Manager Andy Message said they received 147 phone calls as the plume of smoke was so large it could be seen for miles.

Also, a fine was issued to the owner of a holiday rental cottage.

Richard Broddy, who owns Holly Tree Farm Barns near Cratfield, admitted to letting rubbish overflow which attracted wild animals.

Magistrates ordered him to pay £5,160 for environmental breaches.

And finally, a Suffolk town is set to host an outdoor cinema.

Grease, The Greatest Showman and other fan favourite films will be shown in Thetford, followed by stage performances at the Priory.

The council hopes the four days of fun will bring together local communities.
