Plans for up to 160 homes on edge of Bury St Edmunds on land north of Mount Road in Rougham
Plans for up to 160 homes have been submitted for land on the edge of Bury St Edmunds.
Pigeon Capital Management wants to build the development on land north of Mount Road in Rougham.
An outline planning application to West Suffolk Council includes amenity space, landscaping and associated infrastructure and works.
A planning, design and access statement from Turley said 40 per cent of the homes would be affordable housing and 10 per cent custom self-build.
The new homes would be a mix of detached, semi-detached and terraced houses as well as apartments, although the final mix would be agreed at the reserved matters planning stage.
The site is allocated for residential development for about 120 homes in West Suffolk Council’s emerging Local Plan, which is expected to be adopted in July.
Vehicular access to the development would be provided by a new priority junction with Mount Road, to the south east of the site boundary.
Two new bus stops are proposed.
The site masterplan includes a network of pedestrian and cycle routes but the exact locations would be determined through reserved matters applications.
A play area equipped for children who are beginning to play independently with friends, and adults with young children, will be provided in the heart of the scheme.
The planning, design and access statement details emerging proposals on the nearby former Rougham Airfield site, which is allocated for 20 hectares of employment land.
The emerging plan for the former Rougham Airfield also features a mix of uses on-site including a primary school, a local centre including community uses that may comprise a health facility, library, and community building, a care home, allotments, playing fields and play areas.
