Plans for new lighting at front of Mowgli restaurant in Bury St Edmunds

New lighting could be installed at the front of a town centre restaurant after the company that runs it applied for listed building consent.

The restaurant chain Mowgli submitted plans to West Suffolk Council to install spotlights in the window arches of the front facade of its historic venue in Abbeygate Street, Bury St Edmunds.

A lighting design statement said the proposed fixtures would avoid damaging the stonework and be drilled through the mortar.

It said a similar example is in place next door and is frequently used on restaurants within listed buildings.

The Indian street food restaurant opened in November.
