Plan to reinstate gates between Bury St Edmunds restaurant and takeaway in St John’s Street to stop anti-social behaviour

Gates could be reinstated between a restaurant and a takeaway in Bury St Edmunds to stop anti-social behaviour.

Darren Betts has sought planning and listed building consent for a new set of metal pedestrian gates between 63 and 59 St John’s Street.

The premises are Zap Thai Cuisine restaurant and a takeaway and gates were there previously.

A heritage and planning statement to West Suffolk Council said there was space between the two and the set back area next to the restaurant entrance is sometimes used for anti-social behavior.

It said the gates would improve the site and stop anti-social behaviour in the ‘set back dark space’.
