Bury St Edmunds Black Lives Matter protest held on Angel Hill

People gathered in Bury St Edmunds this afternoon for a Black Lives Matter protest.

The Bury St Edmunds for Black Lives event was held on Angel Hill with people also encouraged to take part from home.

Protests have been organised around the world in response to the death of a black man George Floyd in US city Minneapolis, who died after a police officer knelt on his neck.

The event was due to include a nine minute silence to mark the length of time police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on George Floyd's neck last Monday.

Attendees were urged to wear masks and adhere to social distancing.
