Perfect weather for South Suffolk Show

Hundreds flocked to Ampton Racecourse on Sunday for the 127th annual South Suffolk Show.

A host of exciting displays filled the showground including spectacular aerial acrobatics from The Bolddog Lings Honda Motor Cycle Display Team, dog agility and terrier racing, gun dog displays and morris dancing.

Horses and livestock took centre stage with seven rings dedicated to show and hunting horses including several classes of Royal International Horse Society qualifiers.

The show also featured traditional fairground rides, a craft tent, a food hall, vintage farm machinery and classic cars.

Honorary Secretary Geoff Bailes said the event, helped by the weather, had been a huge success.

He said: “It was almost 100 percent show weather.

“We had a very, very good day - in fact one of the best days in our history.

“There was a nice breeze so it wasn’t too hot for the livestock and for the horse exhibitors.

“There were a tremendous number of happy, smiling faces about.

“The food hall had a good day, the craft stalls had a good day, in fact many of them sold out of their products.,

“I can’t give you an exact figure on visitor numbers yet - all I can say is that it was one of the best yet.”
