Bury St Edmunds pensioner's walk for Motor Neurone Disease Association
A man is inviting members of the public to join him for a walk in support of a charity which sponsors research into motor neurone disease (MND).
David Evans - who lives in Bury St Edmunds - has launched a fundraiser via Facebook.
He is aiming to raise £1,000 for the MND Association - and is already over halfway towards his target.
On May 7, Mr Evans will embark on a walk through the centre of his hometown, starting at Angel Hill and proceeding to Abbey Gardens.
He will set out at 1.30pm on the day.
The cause is close to his heart, as Mr Evans lives with MND himself.
He said of the planned walk: "I would like to raise money for research.
"I've raised over £600 so far."
Mr Evans has won plaudits from the MND Association's official channels for his campaign.
On his Facebook page, a representative from the organisation said: "We'd like to say a big thank you for fundraising to support the fight against MND.
"Especially during these difficult times, when people affected by MND need our help more than ever before. Thank you for making a difference."
Anybody who wishes to join the upcoming walk should contact Mr Evans personally via rdal1950@outlook.com
A fundraising page has been set up on Facebook, and is currently accepting donations.
