Bury St Edmunds residents left without water as apologetic Anglian Water fix leak
Thousands of Bury St Edmunds residents have been left without water this evening after a water main burst.
The sudden outage occurred just before 7pm, with water restored to some areas within an hour.
Areas as far north as Ampton were initially affected, although those areas and Fornham St Martin were the first to have their supply restored at around 7.45pm.
The areas shown above were still without water at 8.30pm, with Anglian Water's website stating that all water would be restored by 11pm.
Anglian Water's website said: "We're really sorry but some customers in Bury St Edmunds may have very low water pressure or no water at all. We're aware of reports of a loss of supply in the area and are working hard so that we can get your supply back to normal as soon as possible."
The incident is the second to occur in less than a year, with an outage also experienced by Bury residents in April 2019.
Anglian Water's website also advised: "After any interruption to the water supply it may look cloudy or discoloured when it's back on. Just run your tap for a few minutes and it should clear."
