Parents raise £5,600 for disabled son in charity night at Bury St Edmunds hotel

A severely disabled 10-year-old is set to get a much-need piece of equipment after his parents raised £5,600 for him at a charity night.

Ady and Esther Colman organised the fund-raiser at the Priory Hotel, in Bury St Edmunds, for their son Owen, who suffers from cerebral palsy.

The night featured appearances from Gordon Ramsay look-alike Martin Jordan and former footballer Peter Shilton, who gifted Owen a signed shirt.

There was also a three course dinner and an auction with some exclusive prizes, including another shirt signed by Shilton, signed boxing gloves from Joe Frazier, and a signed number from gold medal-winning showjumper Scott Brash.

With the funds raised, Ady and Esther can afford a special walker with a seat and extra waist and head supports for Lakenheath Primary School pupil Owen, who cannot sit up or walk unaided.

The family extended thanks to Brian Keane, the hotel’s owner, for his help in organising the event.
