Pair arrested by armed police in Stowmarket after reports of man being chased by two men in Bury St Edmunds
Two men have been arrested by armed police following reports of a man being chased and pursued in a town centre.
The arrests were made after officers were called at about 4.35pm yesterday to reports of a man being chased in Bury St Edmunds by two men, one thought to be carrying a knife.
The men initially chased the man in a black BMW, before one got out and chased him in the area of Peckham Street and St John’s Street, before getting back in the car and it was driven away.
The vehicle was traced to Stowmarket and at about 5.25pm, two men were arrested by armed police officers in Stowmarket town centre in connection with the incident.
The men, a 37-year-old and a 32-year-old, both from Bury, were arrested on suspicion of affray.
The 32-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.
The pair have been taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where they remain.
Officers believe it was an isolated incident and that the victim and suspects are known to each other.
The victim, a man aged in his 40s, was not injured in the incident.
