Pair arrested in Stowmarket after man chased in Bury St Edmunds are bailed




Two men who were arrested by armed police after a man was chased in a town centre have been bailed.

Officers were called at about 4.35pm on Friday to reports of a man being chased in Bury St Edmunds by two men, one thought to be carrying a knife.

The men initially chased the man in a black BMW, before one got out and chased him in the area of Peckham Street and St John’s Street, before getting back in the car and driving away.

The vehicle was traced to Stowmarket and at about 5.25pm, two men were arrested by armed police officers in Stowmarket town centre in connection with the incident.

The men, a 37-year-old and a 32-year-old, both from Bury, were arrested on suspicion of affray.

The 32-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

The pair were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Officers believe it was an isolated incident and the victim and suspects were known to each other.

The victim, a man aged in his 40s, was not injured in the incident.

The 32-year-old was bailed to May 6 and the 37-year-old to April 30.
