Bury Bowl in Bury St Edmunds hosting charity night for East Anglian Air Ambulance
Bury Bowl is gearing up to host a charity night to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
The popular bowling venue in Eastgate Street, Bury St Edmunds, is offering unlimited bowling for £12 per person on Sunday, October 1, with six lanes already filled.
Clare Gouge has worked at the bowling alley for over a decade, with over five of those years as manager, and she is looking forward to the evening to raise money for a good cause.
She said: “Of course we’re very excited for the evening. Some of the staff and I have offered to work for nothing to help the night otherwise it wouldn't be at all possible.
“It's nice to be able to do something and help people and it’s just our way of saying thank you, because it was tough for us during the pandemic.
“My staff got furloughed so it's our way of saying thank you because they all worked through Covid risking their lives and we’re unbelievably grateful for that.”
Bury Bowl, which has been in the town for 35 years now, previously held a charity night where they raised about £1400 to have their own defibrillator at the venue.
Now moving forwards, Clare is hoping to do a charity event every month, with current plans to raise money for charities that are involved with helping people struggling with dementia and sepsis.
