St Edmundsbury Cathedral launches exclusive behind the scenes tours to mark Suffolk Day
Exclusive tours of St Edmundsbury Cathedral will mark Suffolk Day on Monday.
Behind the scenes tours of the ancient library and treasury – limited to four people per tour – will take place at 10.30am and 2pm.
Visitors will be able to find out about the Bury St Edmunds cathedral’s unique collection of books, housed in the ancient library.
The librarian will explain the history of the library and showcase a variety of books, giving visitors the chance to see key volumes up close. In the treasury, visitors will see treasures including the Bury Cross.
Sarah Friswell, visitor experience manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer something very special on Suffolk Day. These tours give the opportunity to delve into our history and discover some of the riches right on our doorstep.”
The one-hour tours, costing £5 per person, can only be accessed via a spiral staircase. Face coverings must be worn.
To book, email visits@stedscathedral.org
The tours will be offered on other dates over the summer.

The regular daily tours of the cathedral also restart on Monday.
