Open spaces safeguarded in development brief for Wickhambrook site
Two open spaces will be preserved in a scheme for 22 homes in Wickhambrook to ensure rare plants are protected.
A development brief for the site at The Meadows off Nunnery Green and Cemetery Hill is set to be agreed by St Edmundsbury councillors next month.
The open spaces will safeguard the rare adder’s tongue fern and oxlip found on the site.
A report to yesterday’s sustainable development working party also states that under the development brief tenants for affordable housing on the site would be agreed with the council’s housing department before planning applications were submitted.
Under the council’s Vision 2031 selected sites must have a development brief prior to the planning stage.
The brief also ensures a new pedestrian footpath runs behind the hedge at Cemetery Road.
