Homegrown Music Festival in Barrow, near Bury St Edmunds, to close

Homegrown Music Festival, which has attracted stars such as X Factor's Matt Cardle to Suffolk Academy in Barrow, near Bury St Edmunds, is to close.

The annual event launched in 2013 and has been held over a weekend every summer since, with the aim of helping new musicians onto bigger stages.

But following the 2019 event - held in June - father and daughter organisers Glen and Jade Moulds have decided to bring down the curtain.

A message on the festival's Facebook page read:

"It is with sadness, a heavy heart and much deliberation that we have decided to close Homegrown Music Festival after seven years.

"We would like to thank sincerely our always enthusiastic volunteers and crew for the energy and love they have given Homegrown over the years. Thank you to all those who supported Homegrown by attending, trading, sponsoring or being a part of our little festival in any way - you all became part of the Homegrown family."

Hundreds have already reacted to the news on Facebook - many saying they will miss the event.

Former X Factor winner Cardle played at the event in 2014.
