New Premier Inn in Bury St Edmunds will create up to 28 jobs for town

Hotel giant Premier Inn has opened its new Bury St Edmunds branch, bringing up to 28 jobs for the town with it.

Located in the converted New Shire Hall, in Raingate Street, the hotel was officially opened on October 15 by Cllr Julia Wakelam, Deputy Mayor of St Edmundsbury.

Cllr Wakelam said: “It was a pleasure to open such a well-run hotel with friendly and efficient team.

“It is a tribute to Bury St Edmunds that Premier Inn have selected our town to add to their portfolio. I wish the hotel all the very best.”

The hotel’s 75 bedrooms can cater for up to two adults and two children and include en-suite bathrooms, king size beds and free Wifi.

It includes an on-site restaurant with breakfast, snack and dinner menus.

In total the new hotel has created 20 to 28 year-round jobs for the borough.

Lucy Hills, cluster general manager for Premier Inn, said: “We’re delighted to be opening our first hotel in Bury St Edmunds.

“We’ll be offering guests a modern, comfortable and affordable place to stay in the town, which will be of the highest standard.”

Ms Hill hopes the hotel, close to St Edmundsbury Cathedral and the Abbey Gardens, will encourage more visitors to the town and help to boost tourism.
