A taste of fusion has been launched by the new owner of Saints in Abbeygate Street, Bury St Edmunds.

Ming Wong-Tang who has worked at the Zen noodle bar in Angel Lane for the last 10 years has taken over Saints and launched a new style dining experience under the name Saints Oriental.

He is continuing to run the coffee shop during the day and a lunch menu which features salads, noodle dishes and light bites with an oriental influence.

He will also be offering fusion of Thai, Japanese, Cantonese and Malaysian dishes in the evenings of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The restaurant will also be open all day from 10am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Ming is third generation of his family’s restaurant business and began helping out at the age of seven in the restaurant at Colchester started by his grandfather in the 50s.

His grandfather is credited with opening the first Chinese restaurant in Colchester.

The owner/chef, whose signature dish is Crispy Duck, said: I am very passionate about my cooking.

“I wanted to start something on my own and this place became available in a fantastic location.”

Ming will be rebranding the business shortly.
