RAF Mildenhall’s 100th Air Refueling Wing welcomes new commander

RAF Mildenhall’s 100th Air Refueling Wing welcomed a new commander during a change of command ceremony yesterday.

Col Ryan Garlow has taken the reins from outgoing commander Col Gene Jacobus, who is retiring after 23 years’ service.

Col Garlow now has responsibility for supporting four USAF major command flying programmes and more than 16,000 military, civilian, dependent and retiree personnel.

The wing is the only permanently assigned air refueling operation in the European and African theatre.

Maj Gen France said: “Col Garlow brings a breadth of experience as a tanker pilot who has commanded flying and maintenance squadrons and led a logistics division on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon.

“His expertise and guidance have left a lasting impact on every mission and every team he has been a part of.”

It has been almost three years since it was announced RAF Mildenhall would remain open after the European Infrastructure Consolidation efforts in 2015.
