New auction house opens in Stowmarket
A new auction house holds its first valuation day tomorrow on Stowmarket’s Charles Industrial Estate.
Bishop & Miller Auctioneers will hold its first sale on May 2 and says it will offer six fine art and antique sales through the year with the aim of holding monthly auctions.
Managing director, Oliver Miller has been in the antiques industry for 15 years, including working at Bonham’s in Bury St Edmunds.
Oliver said: “Stowmarket is a great place to start the auction house. It’s a prosperous market town with a wide audience so I’m looking forward to the exciting challenge.”
He said buying online via saleroom.com is becoming the biggest way to buy at auction, and he aims to reach customers at home in front of their PC or on their mobile phones, but he also welcomes people bidding on the day, in person.
The first auction will be on Saturday May 2, with viewing in the week leading up to the auction at the saleroom on Charles Industrial Estate.
There are already more than 300 lots consigned to the auction including artwork, furniture and jewellery.
If you think you have something of interest and are looking to sell at auction, Oliver invites you to contact the team to arrange a valuation.
They are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and on Saturdays to 12.30pm.
Alternatively, Bishop & Miller will hold valuation days at Charles Industrial Estate tomorrow and on Saturday from 9.30am to 4pm.
They will also be at The Granary in Sudbury on Wednesday from 10am to 2pm and The Pavilion in Mildenhall on Friday from 10am to 2pm.
Alongside offering auctions and valuation days, Bishop & Miller Auctioneers will be able to offer valuations for tax, insurance and probate purposes.
