Music and dance tribute for Sheila in aid of hospice

A dancing and music night was held in memory of Sheila Empson, wife, mother and grandmother as a tribute to her to raise funds for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

More than 100 people attended the event which consisted of Sheila's husband Peter, performing in his band On the Road Again while being joined on stage by his grandsons.

On the night £1,315 was raised for the charity who cared for Sheila who was from Lakenheath during her final days which were handed over to the charity earlier this month.

Peter said: "It was a fantastic night. We all really enjoyed it and I think everyone who came along did. I have already had people asking me when the next one is and telling me to put their names down."

The event which took place in Lakenheath Village Hall was well supported by the local community and businesses who all gave generously to a raffle which was held with over 30 prizes.

Peter said: "Both me and Shelia loved music and dancing. We met dancing and it was something we both

enjoyed, I think that's why the music night is so special to all of us. We both loved music and dancing.

"For me being able to be up on stage performing with my grandsons made it extra special. I loved it."

The local charity, who have a hospice site in Bury looks after people experiencing long-term or life-threatening conditions, death, dying and bereavement.

The family visited the hospice earlier this month to hand over all funds which were raised, which will be used to help the charity to continue to care for those across West Suffolk in the final chapter of their lives.
