Thetford murder victim suffered stab wounds
Police investigating the murder of a man who was found at a roadside in Thetford last night say he suffered stab wounds.
Officers on patrol discovered members of the public providing first aid to the man, who had received stab wounds, on the side of the A134 Brandon Road shortly after 7pm.
The man, who is believed to be aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 8pm.
Four men have been arrested in connection with the death and remain in custody.
An online portal has been launched so people can share information with detectives from the Joint Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team.
Detective Chief Inspector Phillip Gray, who is leading the enquiry, said: "The investigation is in its very early stages. I want to appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Brandon Road, Canon's Close or Canterbury Way or the surrounding woodland to contact the investigating team as a matter of urgency.
"Brandon Road carries a lot of traffic and I would particularly appeal to anyone who has dash cam footage to get in touch with us.
"I also want to reassure the community that we are dedicating considerable resources into establishing exactly what happened. They will see an increased police presence in the area over the following days.”
Investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances leading up to the man's death.
Detectives believe this to be an isolated incident with those involved known to each other.
