Bury St Edmunds Westley Middle School targeted by vandals who have written graffiti on the building

A school in Bury St Edmunds has been target by vandals who have written graffiti on the sign, windows and walls of the building.

Residents of the area have spotted that the words hate and other symbols have been written on Westley Middle School in Oliver Road.

Cllr Robert Everitt for the Minden ward and former governor of the school said: "Graffiti can be a very destructive means of upsetting people and communities when horrible things are written.

"What's written on Westley Middle School, I imagine, would be the complete opposite of what the school stands for.

"It's a very popular school and I'm sure a lot of people would be upset to see the word hate graffitied on the building because that's the last thing the school is. It's more like love than hate.

"That said, there are mindless idiots out there who think it's funny to do that sort of thing and they're looking for a reaction. Hopefully the police will be able to find them and they'll get their reaction."
