Menswear shop wins Christmas prize with its dapper window display
Menswear shop Dapper Fox in Bury St Edmunds has won the annual prize for the best dressed Christmas window in town.
The swanky boutique in The Traverse, which only opened in October, was presented its winning shield on Thursday by Chief Executive of OurBuryStEdmunds, Mark Cordell.
In the last few weeks an anonymous guest judge has been looking around town for their favourite window.
Highly commended were last year’s winners Javelin and Loft and Spires.
Tom Betts, manager of Dapper Fox said: “Having only been open a couple of months, we are thrilled to have won.
“We had to start completely from scratch as we didn’t even own any Christmas decorations when we opened but we are fortunate to have two windows so in one we have tried to create a theme of a Christmas party and in the other more of a winter scene.
“I hope this will be something of a boost for our neighbours in the Traverse too, as I know it hasn’t been easy here following the Cupola House fire of 2012 but we’ve been very pleased with the footfall since we opened so I think shoppers are returning.”
Mark Cordell thanked the judge for her time and effort in picking the winner.
He said: “This year there are some fantastic festive windows and I am sure people doing their Christmas shopping here have really appreciated it.
“I congratulate the team at Dapper Fox on winning the competition and hope that their first Christmas trading in the town is equally as successful.”
