Masonic Lodge helps West Suffolk Hospital unit with devices

Members of the Solea Masonic Lodge in Bury St Edmunds have helped West Suffolk Hospital purchase devices to help and reassure patients having MRI scans.

Bob Rider, the group’s charity steward, discovered that the department needed a new way to play music for patients as their iPods were broken after he went in for a scan himself.

He said: “When I came out I asked one of the nurses what had happened with the music. She explained to me that the iPods were broken, so I said I would see if I could do something about it.”

The lodge used its charity fund and raised money to pay for two Amazon Fire tablets, which were handed over to the My WiSH Charity, which supports the work at the hospital.
