Scott Chesney, 40, jailed for 44 months after spate of burglaries in Bury St Edmunds




A 40-year-old man has been jailed after committing a string of offences in Bury St Edmunds.

Scott Chesney, of no fixed address, appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday, where he pleaded guilty to two burglaries in Westley Road and an attempted burglary in Out Risbygate.

The incidents took place on Monday, September 9 and Tuesday, September 10 and saw an iPad, a quantity of jewellery and various electronic items stolen from the properties in Westley Road.

Chesney was charged on Wednesday, September 11.

Between his arrest and sentencing, Chesney chose to work with Suffolk Police's Operation Converter Team - which encourages people to confess to their crimes - and went on to admit five further offences in Bury St Edmunds carried out between April and September, including two burglaries, theft from a vehicle, theft and criminal damage.

He was sentenced to 44 months in prison and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £181.
