Man in 80s suffers serious injuries in three-vehicle crash on A143 in Stanton, near Bury St Edmunds




A man in his 80s suffered serious injuries in a three-vehicle crash in Stanton at the weekend.

Police were called just after 12.05pm on Saturday to the collision on the A143, at the junction with Wyken Road.

Ambulance crews – including an air ambulance – along with Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the collision, which involved a white Renault Clio, a white Toyota Yaris and a blue Ford Fiesta.

The driver of the Renault Clio – a man in his 80s - was flown to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with serious injuries.

He remains in hospital with his condition described as stable.

Two women – the driver and passenger of the Ford Fiesta – were injured and taken to West Suffolk Hospital for treatment.

The male driver of the Toyota Yaris was treated for injuries at the scene.

All three vehicles had to be recovered and the road remained closed until 8.50pm on Saturday.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision and asking any motorists driving in the area at the time of the incident with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.
