Man accused of conspiracy to murder in connection with shooting appears in court

A man accused of conspiracy to murder a man in Bury St Edmunds has today appeared in court.

Colin Deferia, 59, of Battisford Road, Barking, near Needham Market did not enter a plea to the charge when he appeared at Ipswich Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.

The charge is in connection with an incident on August 4 when Jonathan Catchpole was shot in the stomach at an address in Forum Court, Bury St Edmunds.

Deferia, a company director, appeared in court via a video link from HMP Peterborough where he is being held on remand.

Judge David Goodin tolds Deferia that he would continue to be remanded in custody until a plea and case management hearing takes place on October 30.

Three other people are currently remanded in custody facing the same charge as Deferia.

They are Simon Webber, 31, of Bridgewater and Frank Warren, 51, and Andrew Seaton, 39, both of Dorchester.
