A spokesperson for National Highways confirmed damage to the central reservation.

Teams would assess whether repairs would need to be done before reopening the carriageway.

They also confirmed it was still a police-led incident.

National Highways is urging those affected by the closures to exit the A14 westbound at J42 and follow the B1106 to the roundabouts at Fornham All Saints.

Drivers should then follow A1101 through Hengrave and Icklingham before taking the Five ways roundabout at the first exit onto the A11.

They can then rejoin the A14 at Junction 28.

National Highways reports 1.4 miles of congestion on approach to Junction 41, but no delays on approach to Junction 42.
