A14 near Stowmarket, from Haughley to Tothill, fully reopened after 16 months of works
A stretch of the A14 has fully reopened following 16 months of resurfacing works.
The road near Stowmarket, between Haughley and Tothill from junction 47a to junction 49, is fully open after works first started on Monday, February 20, 2023.
After 494 days, motorists have driven on the new carriageways this morning as any existing contraflows have been removed.
Although the road was opened at 5am this morning and running at 70mph, there is still a closure in place for tonight and Saturday 29 on the westbound carriageway.
The £37 million project is part of National Highways' long-term £400 million investment to repair and replace roads nationwide.
The works have finished ahead of its revised completion as it was initially expected to finish in August, which was then brought forward to July.
The project aimed to create a smoother and safer road surface for road users using the A14.
