Bury St Edmunds is feeling the force as LED Saber combat club grows from orignal Thetford group

A LED Saber combat club promoting fun, friendship, fitness and friendly competition with the sci-fi martial arts form has expanded by opening one at The Hunter Club in Bury St Edmunds.

Battle Sabers UK, which also meets at The Carnegie in Thetford, has 10 members already since starting its new offering at the St Andrew’s Street South venue.

Battle master Moose, who started the club, said: “The response has been really good and I feel great about it – I have been wanting to do this in Bury for some time.

“All the members are really enjoying it and the parents of the younger members have said they are really loving it too.”

Having been going to the popular Thetford club for around four years, Moose said he hoped his club could go the same way.

He said: “I want to grow the club, like the Thetford one, to a point where one of my members becomes a battle master themselves and opens their own club one day.”

The news comes as the town is set to welcome its annual sci-fi and film festival at the end of the month, which will celebrate 60 years of Doctor Who and 40 years since Return of the Jedi brought the original Star Wars’ trilogy to a close.
