Bury St Edmunds man charged after car crashes into Lakenheath level crossing
A Bury St Edmunds motorist has been charged with robbery and nine other offences after a pursuit that led to a car smashing into Lakenheath level crossing.
The incident started last Wednesday afternoon (July 24) when the man did not stop for officers and was pursued along Thetford Road in Mildenhall.
Police said the pursuit ended in arrest when the suspect vehicle collided with railway barriers on the level crossing near Lakenheath railway station.
Marcus Williams, 46, of Harrow Road, is due in Ipswich Crown Court on August 23 after the town's magistrates' court deemed it too severe a case to handle last week.
He has been charged with robbery, two counts of actual bodily harm, dangerous driving, three counts of criminal damage, one count of driving while disqualified and one count of failing to stop for police and one count of failing to provide a specimen.
