Mr Kebab Ixworth, near Bury St Edmunds, closed after early hours fire




A kebab van stationed in a Suffolk village is shut temporarily following a fire in the early hours of today.

Mr Kebab Ixworth announced on social media this morning that it would be closed for the foreseeable future.

Owner Murat Sanci said: “We are very sorry to all of our customers but we unfortunately have to close for a little while due to a fire at our Ixworth van this morning.

“However, we will open again soon with a better van than before.”

Images sent to SuffolkNews by Murat show the aftermath of the blaze.

Murat said the whole vehicle suffered smoke damage.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said one crew was alerted to a blaze at a catering van in Ixworth at 6.52am.

They used a hose-reel jet and breathing equipment to dampen the flames, she said.

The incident was dealt with by 7.45am.
