In less than 24-hours it has raised £670 of its £2,000 target, which will be split between the three families that were affected.

Hayley came home from work as the blaze was being tackled by firefighters and wanted to do something to help.

Describing the total so far as ‘crazy’, she said she was touched to see the names of those donating - knowing they don’t have a lot of money to give.

She said: “People have been willing to give their last five pounds.”

Praising the ‘close-knit community’, on the ‘safe and friendly’ estate, Hayley added: “I feel like some people turn up their noses at housing estates but look what we can do when someone is in trouble.

“I am proud of the community, the minute that something like this (the fire) happens everyone wants to help.”

All residents were accounted for with no injuries reported.
