Magic TikTok milestone for James as he hits half a million

A Thetford magician who took to social media after live venues closed has thanked his fans after helping him reach more than half a million followers.

James Samuel, who was a Britain’s Got Talent finalist with magic quartet 4MG, started making TikTok clips during the first lockdown.

He said: “This was a decision made rather quickly as due to all things Covid I soon realised performing magic for the unsuspecting public would not be feasible. I did not want the magic to die and just stop performing.

“The power of social media has been enabling me to perform for literally hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions of people at the click on a single button.

“It has also allowed me to reach and connect with people I never even dreamed would be possible.”

One of those has been global social media magician Julius Dein, who flew James out to his headquarters in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, last month to work with him.

James said: “Julius is a fellow magician of whom I draw a lot of inspiration from. He has been highly successful in social media magic for a number of years and currently has more than 30 million followers all together.

“So to have the fortune of working with him and producing content was one truly incredible experience. Not only did I learn so much about how people at the top of their game work but many lessons I can take with me and implement into my own journey.”

With his follower numbers continuing to rise, James knows it could not have be done without people enjoying and sharing what he does on the social media platform and the feedback he has received he said has kept him thriving to find different ways to entertain.

He said: “It really satisfies me when people enjoy what I do. I have even had messages that I have inspired others to take up magic.

“Every follow makes me smile. The fact that people opt into following me and regularly watch something I create gives me a sense of joy that people enjoy the content that is being put out. I sincerely thank everyone that watches and engages with the content I produce.”
