Indonesian scientists visit schools in Bury St Edmunds

Students at a Bury St Edmunds secondary school arranged for a group of Indonesian scientists to visit the town.

The sixth form students at King Edward VI School fund-raised for the trip so their peers as well as pupils at Sexton’s Manor Primary could learn more about the Indonesian culture and Muslim faith.

The King Edward VI students had worked with the scientists during a trip to Indonesia in the summer to look at conservation and biology issues such as deforestation and reducing emissions.

As part of their studies about ‘Celebrations’, the pupils at Sexton’s Manor treated their Indonesian guests to a lesson about Christmas learning songs and making cards.

In return, there was a question and answer session for the children to ask questions about festivals such as Ramadan.

King Edward VI School, in Grove Road, is currently organising its next trip to Indonesia for 2016.
