Bury St Edmunds search underway for missing dog which escaped after owner fell outside shop
A search is underway for a missing dog which escaped from its owner after she fell outside a Bury St Edmunds shop.
Crossbreed Rhen slipped out of her lead after being taken into Pets at Home, on the Moreton Hall estate, following the accident at 2.30pm today.
Her owner Tony Borrer, 77, of Thetford , said his partner Mary, who also had their other dog Holly at the time, lost her balance and fell over on steps outside the shop.
Tony said: "She smashed her face on the steps and had to be taken to hospital.
"Pets at Home took both dogs in and Rhen slipped the lead and now we can't find her."
She was last seen on the A14 slip road.
Tony said: "There have been so many people looking for her. I felt really choked with emotion."
Rhen, a rescue dog from Romania, is about two-years-old and is black and tan with a white chest.
Tony added: "We've had her for about three months.
"She's a lovely dog and I would hate to lose her.
"We both love her dearly.
"She really is friendly but she's scared obviously.
"Everyone today has been wonderful - absolutely wonderful."
