Hertfordshire man drowned after walk in Thetford, inquest hears
An inquest opened today into the death of a Hertfordshire man who drowned during a nighttime walk in Thetford.
Ronald Dawson, 68, from Borehamwood, died on January 2 after slipping into water adjacent to the Little Ouse near Blaydon Bridge at around 8pm.
The inquest at Norwich Coroner’s Court heard that Mr Dawson, who was said to be unfamiliar with the area, was last seen when he left his friend’s house in Canons Walk to go for a stroll. He was later found submerged in the water near the bridge.
A post mortem found the cause of death to be drowing.
A full inquest into his death will take place at the court on Thursday March 26.
