Moreton Hall Health Club, in Bury St Edmunds, steps forward with membership offer for those hit by shock Sports Direct Fitness closure

A Bury St Edmunds health club is offering free membership for the rest of August for those hit by the shock Sports Direct Fitness closure yesterday.

Moreton Hall Health Club, in Mount Road, decided to step forward with its offer after learning of the Easlea Road facility’s closure and the impact on its gym community.

Amy Istead, one of Moreton Hall Health Club’s owners, said: “What has happened with Sports Direct is terrible and a shock to their staff and members. Our thoughts are with them all, but we would like to let them know they are welcome to join us and hopefully we can keep that community here in the Moreton Hall area.

“We know it is important for people to be able to keep going with their fitness routines, so they can join us and not have to worry about paying two memberships this month.”

The health club has two swimming pools, a gym with new equipment, ladies gym, studio and group fitness timetable, tennis courts, squash courts and lounge/bar with outdoor terrace, while it also has a resident swim school.

Any Sports Direct Fitness members can take advantage of the offer to join Moreton Hall Health Club with nothing to pay until September by showing proof of their Sports Direct Fitness membership.
