She announced her departure today (Friday, December 18).

Tollgate Primary, in Tollgate Lane, is part of the Bury All-Through Trust and Greg Sadler, who has been acting head during Mrs Earl’s absence will continue in this position.

He remains headteacher at Howard Middle School, which is due to close next year, and knows many of the families at both schools.

John George, chairman of governors at Tollgate Primary, said Mr Sadler will continue to be supported by other staff within the trust.

Mrs Earl is a National Leader of Education and Mr George paid tribute to her contributions to the ‘rapidly rising standards’ at the school.
