Perennial's Fullers Mill Garden in West Stow wins RHS Partner Garden of the Year




The team working at a garden on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds are celebrating after scooping a prestigious Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) award.

Perennial's Fullers Mill Garden in West Stow, won the RHS Partner Garden of the Year for the Midlands and East of England, for the second year running.

The garden, on the banks of the River Lark, was voted for by visitors and supporters who have described it as a 'truly magical and very special garden' and a 'garden begging one to return'.

Head gardener, Annie Dellbridge said: "We are delighted to retain our title and extremely proud to know that our visitors love the garden as much as we do.

"Thank you to all who voted for us, we look forward to welcoming new and regular visitors to the garden for another year."

Fullers Mill is described as a 'quiet waterside oasis' and is managed by Perennial, a charity that helps people in horticulture.

The garden was transformed by Bernard Tickner MBE, from a rough scrub and woodland and impresses visitors with its unusual collection of shrubs, perennials and lilies.

Peter Newman, Chief Executive at Perennial said: "I am thrilled that Fullers Mill, for the second year

running, has been voted as the RHS Partner Garden of the Year in the Midlands and East of England.

"The late Bernard Tickner and his wife Bess would be so pleased to know that their beautiful and tranquil

creation, which is so skillfully maintained by head gardener Annie Delllbridge and her team of staff and

volunteers, continues to delight garden and plant lovers."

One visitor who voted for the garden said: "A truly magical and very special garden in a most inspiring setting, every corner of which reflects the passion and dedication of those who work to maintain and develop it.

"Fullers Mill is a place to find peace and tranquillity amongst an array of interesting plants at any time of the year; its atmosphere is truly unique - simply a gardener's paradise!"

This winter Fullers Mill will be open on Saturdays until December 17, between 11am - 4pm, the garden will then reopen in February 2023 - for their special Snowdrop opening.
