Hardwick Primary School children in Bury St Edmunds get involved in Suffolk’s 1,000 Stars recycling project

Children.parents, grandparents and friends have been taking part in a project to create 1,000 Suffolk Stars as part of the Recycle for Suffolk initiative.
This involves schools across the county decorating festive stars with recycled materials.

On Friday pupils at Hardwick Primary School in Bury St Edmunds, were busy turning unwanted buttons, bits of paper, foil, bottle tops and all sorts of thrown away items into colourful decorations for their stars.
They and other schools in the county will see their work displayed over the Christmas period at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds and at Snape Maltings as part of the green scheme to make youngsters more aware of the importance of recycling.
All participating schools will be entered into a draw to win a wormery, compost bin or a tree/£50 gardening voucher.
Hardwick deputy head teacher, Kelly Harries, said: “Everyone brought in their own materials, card, ribbons bottle tops, sweet wrappers and we displayed the finished stars in the hall.

“We invited the children to have a look at the display and they were amazed at how many things had been used.”
After their recycling endeavours everyone enjoyed some home made cakes in aid of Children in Need.
