'Gun' shock for officers called to dumped property
Police officers called to a pile of property found in Chalk Road, Brandon, yesterday were shocked to find what appeared to be a mortar, submachine gun and hunting rifle.
But instead of a sinister terrorist cache, it turned out to be a pile of property stolen last month from a paintballing club at Tuddenham, near Mildenhall.
Suffolk Police say the club reported on July 21 that over a five-day period, someone broke into a container on the site and stole mixed power tools, a selection of Airsoft low-powered airgun equipment and realistic replica guns. It also included pyrotechnics and props used in games.
The property has been returned to its owners and police ask anyone with information about the theft or 'dumping' at Brandon to call Mildenhall police on 101 quoting crime reference 37/42393/18.
