Gunners graduate at RAF Honington




The graduation of 33 members of TG 1-20 Salalah Flight, the newest members of the RAF Regiment to have graduated at RAF Honington took place yesterday.

The ceremony was live streamed enabling the graduate's families to see the behind closed doors event and ACOS Training, Air Commodore Simon Harper OBE MA RAF, took up the role as reviewing officer.

On graduating from this course, the leading aircraftmen are posted to either 1 Sqn RAF Regiment at RAF Honington, 2 Sqn RAF Regiment- RAF Brize Norton, 51 Sqn RAF Regiement- RAF Lossiemouth or 63 Sqn RAF Regiment- RAF Northolt.

The six trainee gunner flights of the regimental training squadron are named after historically significant RAF Regiment actions, Salalah Flight commemorates the RAF Regiment Field Squadrons that carried out the defence of RAF Salalah with distinction during the ‘Secret War’ in Oman during the early 1970s.
