Heart of Suffolk Distillery, in Bacton near Stowmarket, to host drinks festival at Unitarian Meeting House, in Bury St Edmunds, on February 3

A new drinks festival is set to take place next month showcasing the work of a range of independent breweries and distilleries.

The festival is the brainchild of Bacton-based gin distillery, Heart of Suffolk Distillery, run by Ryan Luke and Tom Mills.

Heart of Suffolk has gone from strength-to-strength since its launch in 2018 - and the two bosses are keen to help other businesses through events and collaborations.

They will be holding the drinks festival at the Unitarian Meeting House, Bury St Edmunds, on Saturday, February 3.

“We held our first festival in Stowmarket last year and more than 100 people came along,” said Ryan.

“At the Bury festival we have seven companies from across East Anglia and people can enjoy a range of locally produced drinks, including gin, amaretto, vodka, beer, wine, cider, rum and non-alcoholic alternatives.

“Each stall will be serving drinks and people can also buy some to take home. Throughout the evening there will also be the offering of our delicious locally sourced meat and cheese boards.”

Heart of Suffolk was founded by Ryan’s mum and dad, Martyn and Karen, in 2018. It was a dream come true for the couple, a former plumber and business manager, who had a passion for gin.

The distillery now produces three award-winning London dry gins: Betty's, Rosie's and Ivy's alongside limited edition liqueurs.

The business has also grown from its original distillery in Finbow’s Yard, Stowmarket, to include a shop, events space and production unit. It employs eight staff.

It has also just launched a wine bar, Langams, as part of a joint collaboration with a former café, in Stowmarket.

The Bury festival will feature Heart of Suffolk Distillery, serving both our locally made spirits and cocktails, as well as Humber Doucy Brewing Company, Artefact Brewing, Shotley Vineyard, Suffolk Village Ciders, Drinkstones Ale and Norfolk Spirits.

It costs £15 per ticket.
