Full line-up for BurySOUND announced as competition returns for 27th year at The Hunter Club
The full line-up for a town’s long running battle of the bands has been announced.
BurySOUND 2025, the 27th edition of the festival, will return to The Hunter Club, in Bury St Edmunds, over the course of five Saturdays March, while the grand final will be held at The Apex on April 12.
The competition, which spans five heats, has been supporting and promoting emerging local artists since 1998.
Each night will feature five artists battling it out to make the grand final, alongside a guest headliner. The headliners on closing night at The Apex will be 2024’s winners, Jaded Teeth.
On March 1, for the opening heat, Blaaze, Grace Wells, Helix, Krumpets, Sub-Liminal will take to The Hunter Club stage, alongside guest headliners Headcheck.
Heat 2 will take place on March 8, where Bi-Neural, Drop Dead Sally, Jack!sm, Manic Stanley and Serena Grant will battle it out, accompanied by $ebbuku as the night’s headliner.
The third heat be on March 15 when The Dutch House, Jorts, Lava Pigeon, Splinters and The 07s will fight for a slot at The Apex, while four-piece Femme Dé will close out the night.
For the fourth heat, on March 22, The Hunter Club will be rocled by the sounds of Bella Ross, Doll Face, Fortunate Fools, Hear Me Out and HLtherealist. Flat Venues are the guest headliners.
The final heat, on March 29, will see The Fifth Flaw, Frankie Freeman, H*llo K*tty Fun Land, In Cairo and Mackzwell compete for the last slot in the grand final, while Final Transmission are the last of the heat headliners.
Two winners will be announced at April 12’s final – the overall BurySOUND winners, and the Rising Star Award (runner-up).
The overall will receive a raft of prizes including £500 cash from Vision Express, two days of recording at Punch Studios in Ipswich and two tracks mastered by Digital Morpheus Mastering among others.
The runners-up will receive £250 in cash from Vision Express alongside a day’s recording at North Acre Recording Studio with Jake Day, a support slot at a Green Ming Gigs show in Cambridge and one track’s mastering by Digital Morpheus among other awards.
All finalists will receive free rehearsal time at Neon Street and the other three finalists will get recording time at The Bunker Studio, in West Suffolk College.
