A football fundraiser will be taking place in Bury St Edmunds this weekend

After losing his childhood best friend to cancer and seeing the effects the disease has on the lives of others, one Bury St Edmunds man is putting on a football fundraiser this Saturday in a bid to raise cash for Cancer Research UK.

With a bouncy castle and burger van at the ready, Josh Bruce-Rae has organised for 12 five-a-side football teams to play against each other in a charity football match that is set to be packed full of action.

Josh said: "I have seen first hand what this disease can do and I want to do something to help beat cancer.

Five-a-side teams from across Suffolk will be playing to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

"In some way, the disease has touched everyone's lives and I hope this will be a day that brings the community together while raising money."

Kick-off for the match starts at 10 am and is expected to run until around three in the afternoon.

The day will take place at Nowton Park located along the Bury road and anyone looking for a fun day out is welcome to join and donate to the great cause.

There will also be a raffle which will take place on the day which promises to have some amazing prizes to be won.
