Former estate agents in Bury St Edmunds town centre could be transformed into 'niche' Indian takeaway and restaurant
A former estate agents in Bury St Edmunds town centre which shut more than a year ago could be transformed into a 'niche' Indian takeaway.
Nasir Jilani, of London, plans to open the takeaway business with a delivery service at the former Connells estate agents, in The Traverse, which closed in December 2019.
In proposals to West Suffolk Council, Mr Jilani said he is also considering running a restaurant from the premises and there were 'ample opportunities' to make the business 'a great success'.
He said the upper floors of the Grade II listed building would be used for staff amenities, office and overnight accommodation for management as he will need to relocate from London to Bury St Edmunds.
The business will have an open kitchen with a glass screen so customers can see how their meals are cooked by Mr Jilani's 'award-winning chefs'.
He added that a 'niche takeaway' would 'benefit the town hugely' as Bury emerges from the coronavirus lockdown.
