Football fans get on their bikes for Bury Town FC and breast cancer charity
Supporters of Bury Town Football Club are getting on their bikes for charity - riding home from Bury Football Club in Lancashire.
The 16 fans will join club members including manager Ben Chenery and player Justin Miller to make the 224-mile journey.
Together they will cycle from the JD Stadium in Bury to Bury Town FC’s home at Frames Conservatories Direct Ram Meadow Stadium.
It is hoped the four-day charity fund-raiser, from June 11 to 14, will raise £20,000 to be split between the club and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Participants in the Bury2Bury cycle ride plan to call in at football clubs en route including Stoke City FC at Britannia Stadium, Leicester City FC’s King Power Stadium andPeterborough United’s London Road Stadium.
Michelle Banfield-Curran, Bury Town FC CEO, who is coordinating the ride, said: “This certainly will be a challenge, the route is not flat and will challenge their legs and their mental strength.
“The daily target of approximately 50 to 70 miles is an achieveable target for all.”
Participants have been training around West Suffolk and received advice from Elliott Shepherd, Bury’s seasoned bike doctor.
